The University of Suffolk is a British public university located in Suffolk, UK. Suffolk County is 120 kilometers east of London, adjacent to the North Sea coast in the East, Cambridge County in the West and Essex County in the south.
The history of Suffolk university can be traced back to the Tudor Dynasty in England. Cardinal Wolsey founded cardinal college in Ipswich in the middle of the 16th century in order to solve the education problem of aristocratic people in southeast England. As Suffolk has never had its own university, in 2007, the University of East Anglia and the University of Essex, the two top 20 universities in the UK, jointly established the university campus Suffolk on the basis of cardinal College as the common campus of the two universities in Suffolk. All teachers and teaching systems come from these two universities. Students can choose to receive a degree from Suffolk University College or East Anglia / Essex University upon graduation.
Due to the repeated insistence of Suffolk County Council, in 2016, the university campus Suffolk was officially renamed as the University of Suffolk, awarding the degree of Suffolk university instead of the degrees of East Anglia and Essex universities.
Suffolk university is famous for creating news in the field of British universities. Different from the traditional British Red brick University, the university has made a lot of innovations in teaching philosophy, teaching plan and school system, and has made great achievements. It is praised by the guardian as "the most modern university in Britain with proud history".
